  • Representational Painting
    Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Annapolis, MD

    Working from observation students will investigate color-value relationships, articulation of form, spatial relationships as well as understanding basic composition. The course is presents direct and indirect painting techniques. An ongoing dialog/investigation of material, techniques (Old Master and Contemporary) and history will enlighten the the course.

  • Sculpting the Figure
    Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Annapolis, MD

    This course offers instruction to students at all levels of in modeling the human form. Working from the model, students will sculpt an 18" inch standing figure. With the help of demonstrations, illustrations and references to casts concerning the underlying bone and musculature, students will learn about anatomy, proportions and planar relationship and the flow of volume in 3D. Instruction is individualized. A model and materials fee TBA.

    Tuition: $185. Model fee: $35.This course is designed to broaden awareness of the human form in observational drawing. Importance is placed on the use of observational drawing tools and techniques for representing proportions. A variety of different approaches and media will be explored during the semester. Analysis of the human body will help students understand its overall structure and complexity. Students will develop an understanding of the role of the human figure in art history and in contemporary art. Slide lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and critiques will supplement drawing practice.
